Cut by machine process. Folded and finished by hand.

I had a much simpler version of this design many years ago. It has evolved several times on the way to its present form.
What is probably not immediately obvious is that this design involves one, single continous 'strut' that forms both of the 'angel' shapes. There are only two hinge points: at the upper left and lower right of the central diamond. The rest is continuous. Clever, huh?
Back in the day when I had to cut the cards by hand, there was no good or easy way to cut the small ellipse/'halo' shapes you see in this design. Even if I could get the ellipses almost right, they never came out evenly matched. This was a bit frustrating. It was only once I'd discovered how to do the cutting by machine that I could get neat, nearly perfect ellipse shapes. Small triumphs such as these make for many joys.
As it happens, I'm not a religious person, but I felt 'Angels' was as good a name as any for this design. The other strong contender was 'The one where I can't cut the darned halos neatly'. I felt this was a slightly less snappy title, but you be the judge.
